Testimonials

The commitment of tutors involved with North Coast Trad to keep tuition going during the Covid19 pandemic has been commendable. Commitment of this level will see NCT grow and become an important part of traditional music.

Started pipes this year with NCT, always loved the instrument but never had the opportunity to learn due to a lack of tutors and access to a practice set. Tutors are great and its a relaxed and friendly environment to learn in. Lessons still going strong during lockdown via Skype and their virtual sessions are a great way to stay connected.

Can’t wait for the next semester !!

Fiddle is something I’ve always watched intensely at sessions and have been amazed! I’ve loved learning it a such a relaxed but educational way. Sorcha (founder of North Coast Trad) is an amazing teacher. I would highly recommend anyone who is thinking about it to go ahead and book lessons! Even through Covid we have never missed a lesson these guys have gone above and beyond!!

For anyone of any age interested in traditional music there is a group of musicians based in Portrush called North Coast Trad. You need to join up now, they are fantastic! The tutors are all excellent musicians and whether you’re into fiddle, flute, whistle, pipes, accordion, bodhran or whatever, you will get superb tuition. We had been meeting in Mill Strand Integrated primary school before the dreaded virus hit us but the classes just continued remotely after that, which has been great for the mental health. Sibylle and I are having a great time learning new tunes and also being part of something in the community. Our best wishes for the future but we have no doubt that North Coast Trad will go from strength to strength.

“”Our three children joined the North Coast Trad group this year. The teachers have always been very positive and encouraging to all of my children! My kids have enjoyed their first semester and are looking forward to the next one.

Our two children Oscar 9 and Alice 7 have attended North Coast Trad since January. When lockdown came in the tutors completed Skype lessons which were great. The children both looked forward to their lessons. We now have had a number of mini sessions in our own house as they learn the same tunes although on different instruments. Music for us will be life long. They play alongside all ages and it is a great social event. We look forward to when we can go back to group lessons and have music sessions. The tutors engage the children and the children really enjoy it. Although on Skype the children have developed a great rapport with their teachers. At the end of term socially distanced session, it was a great time to meet other parents and for the children to play together. We are so lucky that we have this on our doorstep with such experiences tutors. The guest sessions and concerts are an added bonus.
